Zhangjiajie National Forest Park Tours
Private and hiking-focused tours of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park — Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain, Golden Whip Stream and the Bailong Elevator — routed around your pace rather than a coach timetable.

THE SHORT VERSION
The park most closely associated with the Avatar Mountains
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is where the quartz-sandstone pillars that inspired the floating mountains in Avatar stand, inside the wider Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area. For many travelers it is the reason Zhangjiajie is on their list at all.
It is also easy to underestimate. The park covers a large area of ridge and valley, the gates are on different sides of it, and the internal shuttle network is what actually decides how much you see in a day.Read our full National Forest Park Guide to plan your route →

WAYS TO VISIT
Four ways we route a private park tour
These are the shapes that work for most travelers. None of them is a fixed package — the route is rebuilt for your dates, your group and how much walking you want.

CLASSIC ROUTE
Classic day tour: Yuanjiajie & Tianzi Mountain
One full day covering the two headline areas of the park — the Avatar viewpoints in Yuanjiajie and the wider ridge panorama from Tianzi Mountain.

FULLER PARK VISIT
Two-day park tour
A practical option if the park is the main reason for your trip. It splits the park so that neither day turns into a shuttle relay.

FOR WALKERS
Hiking-focused tour
A walking-led day for travelers who would rather cover ground on their own feet than ride between viewpoints.

MIXED AGES
Low-impact & family tour
A route built on the elevator, the cable cars and shorter walks between viewpoints, paced so the group is not rushing.
WHAT THE DAY LOOKS LIKE
A sample day inside the park
EARLY MORNING
Enter at the Wulingyuan gate
Coach groups tend to arrive later in the morning. Starting early can help reduce exposure to peak crowds and leave more flexibility for the rest of the day.
MID-MORNING
Bailong Elevator up to Yuanjiajie
326 m of glass lift built into the cliff face. Where timed reservations are available, booking ahead can help reduce waiting time.
LATE MORNING
Avatar Hallelujah Mountain & the First Bridge
The viewpoints behind the film’s floating mountains — plus the natural stone arch that most groups walk straight past.
AFTERNOON
Shuttle across to Tianzi Mountain
A simple local lunch inside the park, then the shuttle to the Tianzi side, where the ridge lines open out across the park.
