THE SHORT VERSION

What a private Zhangjiajie trip actually means here

Nothing on this page is a fixed package with a brochure price. We start from your dates, your pace and what you want to see, then work out where to go on which day — including whether a guide is useful to you at all.

In practice, many custom trips are built on three sites: the National Forest Park, Tianmen Mountain and the Glass Bridge, each of which takes its own day. The order is set by ticket windows, driving time and how much walking you want to do.

HOW PLANNING WORKS

WAYS WE SHAPE A TRIP

Four shapes a custom route usually takes

🏔️

A COMMON STARTING POINT

The two-site core

The sandstone pillars and Tianmen Mountain on separate days, with the transfer time between them built into the plan instead of bolted on.

  • The National Forest Park first, with an early start on your first morning
  • Tianmen Mountain on the second day, timed against the cable car
  • Suits travelers with two or three nights in the city
  • Ask about this 2-site route →

🌉

THE FULL SET

All three headline sites

The park, Tianmen Mountain and the Glass Bridge in one route, ordered so the day with a timed slot does not collide with the longest drive.

  • The bridge day placed where its slot fits the rest of the route
  • Longer drives split across mornings rather than stacked
  • Suits a first visit of three to four days-
  • Plan your 3-4 day trip →

🧭

AWAY FROM THE MAIN CIRCUIT

Quieter corners of the park

A route that leans on the less-visited sections — Yangjiajie, the back of Tianzi Mountain, the valley floor.

  • More time on trails, less time at the shuttle stops
  • Built around the shuttle and cable car network rather than against it
  • Suits repeat visitors and anyone traveling with a camera
  • Ask about this off-the-beaten-path route →

👨‍👩‍👧

SLOWER PACE

A lower-effort version

A route that uses the cable cars, lifts and shuttles to keep the days shorter, and puts the flat valley walk in place of the steepest viewpoints.

  • Cable cars, lifts and shuttles used wherever they help
  • Walking and stairs still part of every viewpoint, in reduced amounts
  • Suits families, mixed ages and travelers who would rather not climb
  • Get a family-friendly itinerary →

PACE & EFFORT

You set the pace, we set the order

LEAST WALKING

Viewpoints by cable car and lift

The main viewpoints reached by cable car, lift and shuttle, with short walks at the top.

MIDDLE GROUND

One full walking day, two lighter ones

A full day on the trails in the forest park, then Tianmen Mountain and the Glass Bridge with mechanical options.

MOST WALKING

Every viewpoint on foot

The long ridge walks in the park, the descent into the canyon and the climb at Heaven’s Gate taken step by step.

LOCAL SUPPORT

Planning is the part we do

The trips themselves are delivered by vetted local partners — experienced guides and local operators who work these sites every week, with licensed guides prioritized.

What we handle is everything around them: which site on which day, the tickets and timed slots booked against your passport, the hotel pickup, and the rework when weather or availability changes the plan.

🗺️

Route design & sequencing

Day-by-day order set by ticket windows, drive times and your pace rather than a fixed circuit.

🎟️

Hotels & transfers

Rooms and transfers lined up together, in the city or in Wulingyuan, whichever suits the route.

Private & Custom Tours FAQ

How does a custom trip differ from the fixed tour pages on this site?

The other pages describe the sites and the route formats. A custom trip turns them into a day-by-day plan for your dates: the order, the start times and the mix of sites can all change, and a guide is optional rather than assumed.

How far in advance should I start planning?

For much of the year a few weeks is comfortable. Two periods need longer: Chinese public holidays, and the autumn months when the foliage draws heavier traffic.

Can the trip include Fenghuang Ancient Town?

Yes, though it is a different trip rather than an add-on. Fenghuang sits a few hours west of Zhangjiajie, so it works best as an overnight stop at the end of a longer route.

Can you plan around limited mobility or mixed ages?

Yes. Tell us what the least mobile person in the group can comfortably manage, and the route is built around that.

Do you book hotels as well, or only the guiding?

Both, or either. Some travelers want rooms and transfers arranged as well; others already have a hotel and need the ticketing, the route and a guide for specific days.
